Integrated solutions focused on efficiency
An integrated solution is one that combines a number professional solutions such as digital photography, digital proofing and page layout, combining them into a single integrated workflow.
We start with an analysis of the workflow to be implemented, whether it is a new set up or replacement or upgrade to an existing set up.
The workflow is plotted on a flow chart and the potential areas for improvement and innovation are noted. We then design the solution taking into account all of the hardware, software, training and technical support required to ensure that it is implemented successfully.
Wherever possible, repetitive processes are automated using tools such as Applescript to control standard applications. Quality processes are defined to ensure that the ouptut of an integrated workflow meets all of the required quality standards.
PDF Workflow
PDF workflow is based on the concept of using Adobe's PDF file format as the universal interchange format between software applications and output devices throughout the print production process.
icorp's PDF workflow solutions use the industry leading Helios products such as Helios EtherShare, Helios OPI, Helios PDF Handshake and Helios Ethershare Backup.
Digital Asset Management
What are digital assets?
Digital assets are the images, designs, videos, animations and audio files that creative professionals produce as part of their day to day work. They exist in digital form and are often stored in a disorganised way on many computer hard disks within an organisation.
The concept of digital asset management recognises that these files often have value and potential for re-use or re-expression in other forms. By re-using a digital asset it may generate more revenue than was originally anticipated when it was created.
A digital asset management solution has a number of key components:
- A centralised data storage system
- Network access to the storage system by a local area network, wide area network or the Internet
- A database to store information about the files to enable users to search on pre-determined fields such as author, size, colour, date, subject or location
- Software to provide the search interface, to display thumbnail images of the asset and to allow files to be copied, moved or downloaded by authorised users
icorp is the Australian leader in implementing enterprise level asset management solutions.
Colour Management
Colour has always represented a major challenge to people working in the print industry. Now with the emergence of e-commerce, misrepresentation of product colours on computer screens is one of the main reasons behind product returns to e-commerce sites.
In the past every computer system, software package or peripheral tended to use its own unique method of defining colour. This meant that while colour could be well defined and managed within one system, it was impossible to predict how colours would look when transferring digital images between different systems.
Colour management solves this problem. Implementation of colour management in the computer and publishing industries has taken nearly ten years. It started with the creation of the International Colour Consortium (ICC) as an industry group to solve the compatability problem by agreeing on international cross platform standards.
Members of the ICC include all the major computer hardware and software manufacturers as well as all of the manufacturers of specialised pre-press and publishing equipment.
Apple was the first computer company to implement ICC colour management (ColorSync) using technology licensed from Linotype Hell, one of the leaders in high end pre-press technology. Since then Apple has maintained its lead as other manufacturers have followed.
icorp was one of the first systems integrators to provide integrated colour management solutions as part of a digital photography and print production workflow.
We have extensive experience in all of the leading colour management systems and currently use the Gretag Macbeth iProfile system to calibrate and profile all devices in a digital workflow.
Once a colour management solution is implemented
we can provide ongoing maintenance and periodic recalibration, or for larger
sites we are able to supply all of the necessary tools, training and technical
support for you to maintain the system yourself.
